EMC Ventures, the venture capital arm of EMC Corporation, has led a series B funding round in ZCOOL, an online community platform for designers in China.
Hearst Ventures, the venture unit of Hearst Corporation, also participated in the round, which amounts to around US$10 million.
Founded in 2006, ZCOOL previously received several million U.S. dollar in a series A financing round from IDG Capital Partners and Trends Media Group.
ZCOOL’s online platforms allow designers to share and display their work, potentially leading them to commercial opportunities.
The platform currently has over four million users, with around 20,000 design work released on the site daily. The company also partners with image firm Shutterstock to provide image database services.
The company says it plans to use the latest proceeds to expand its online community, strengthen content and provide more services to members, including training courses and job matching services.
