Alibaba Cloud will open data centers in South Korea and Thailand

Alibaba Cloud will open up two more cloud data centers in South Korea and Thailand to provide local customers with localized digital technology services. The two centers are expected to enter operation in 2022. Prior to this, Alibaba Cloud has established hundreds of cloud data centers in 25 countries and regions, including Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, Japan, Germany, Dubai, and the United States, making it the largest cloud computing platform in Asia.

BlueFocus and Tencent have in-depth cooperation in Virtual Human

Chinese PR company BlueFocus disclosed that they have partnered with Tencent Holdings in aspects of gaming, animation and e-reading; besides, they also have in-depth cooperation in virtual human, which is the entrance to metaverse.

Xiaomi invests in 3D sensor developer Hesai Technology

Chinese 3D sensor developer Hesai Technology announced that it has recently raised additional US$70 million from Xiaomi Inc. With previous US$300 million, the total financing amount of Hesai’s series D round has exceeded US$370 million. Leading investors include Xiaomi Inc., GL Ventures, Meituan, CITIC PE, etc. Proceeds of the round will be used to support mass production and delivery of hybrid solid-state lidars, construction of Hesai’s intelligent manufacturing center and R&D of automotive-grade lidar chips.

Tencent acquires a stake in robotics startup Lanxin Technology

Recently, public information shows that Hangzhou Lanxin Technology has received a capital injection of nearly RMB10 million from Tencent Holdings. Lanxin Technology is a Chinese mobile robot deep vision system(MRDVS) provider, which mainly develops deep visual perception technology and commercial products for mobile robots.

MIIT: China’s 5G users have surpassed 450 million, accounting for over 80% of the world

China has built more than 1.15 million 5G base stations, accounting for more than 70% of the global 5G base stations, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. It is the world’s largest and most technologically advanced 5G independent networking network. 97% of urban areas and 40% of rural areas have achieved 5G network coverage; 5G users have surpassed 450 million, accounting for over 80% of the world.
