Chinese Phone Maker Huawei Teams Up With EV Maker BJEV For Intelligent Connected Vehicles

Chinese electric car maker Beijing Electric Vehicle Co. Ltd (BJEV) has signed an agreement with Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd, a Chinese smartphone maker and telecommunication solution provider, to build next-generation intelligent-connected EVs.

The companies entered into a strategic cooperation in informatization and intelligent connected vehicles, based on the strategic cooperation agreement signed in 2017, according to an announcement by Huawei.

Huawei will provide its advantage on ICT (Information Communications Technology) to help support the building of the EV maker’s next-generation intelligent-connected EVs.

The latest collaboration with Huawei strengthens BAIC’s confidence in the development of its new energy strategy, said Xu Heyi, chairman of BAIC Group, in the statement.

In 2017, BJEV and Huawei had formed a partnership to jointly work on technology research and development and product innovation, involving areas such as cloud computing, IoV (Internet of Vehicles) and energy network, among others.

The newly-agreed cooperation will allow both companies to make joint layouts in industrial Internet, intelligent park as well as ICT infrastructures.

Its "full-stack" "full-scenario" AI solutions will help the company build an "everything-is-connected" intelligent ecosystem, noted Xu Zhijun, rotating chairman of Huawei.
