SMIC plans to expand the production of mature 12-inch production lines by 10,000 pieces this year

Zhao Haijun and Liang Mengsong, co-CEOs of SMIC, said that the current capacity of the foundry industry is tight, especially the demand for mature processes is still strong, and it is expected that the company’s mature production capacity will continue to be fully loaded.

In order to meet customer needs, the company expects capital expenditures of US$4.3 billion this year, most of which will be used for the expansion of mature technology, and a small part will be used for advanced technology, the civil construction of the new Beijing joint venture project and others.

In terms of capacity construction, it plans to expand the production of 10,000 pieces on the mature 12-inch production line this year, and expand the production of the mature 8-inch production line by no less than 45,000 pieces.

In the fourth quarter of 2020, revenue was 6.671 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 10.3%; net profit was 1.252 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 93.5%.
