RRJ Capital Closes $3.6B Fund II


Hong Kong-based private equity firm RRJ Capital has raised US$3.6 billion for its second fund, according to media reports.

The firm closed its first fund in June 2011 with a fund size of US$2.3 billion.

RRJ’s funds focus on private equity investments in China and South-East Asia.

The firm is founded by Richard Ong, former founder and CEO of Hopu Fund. Before that, he spent 15 years with Goldman Sachs with his latest position as co-head of Asia Ex Japan investment banking.

The firm’s co-CEO is Charles Ong, formerly with Temasek Holdings holding positions including chief investment officer and chief strategy officer.
