Temasek, DCM Backs Chinese Travel Site Tuniu.com

Chinese travel and tour services site, Tuniu.com, says the company has secured US$60 million in series D funding.

The investment is led by Singapore’s Temasek Holdings and U.S.-based venture capital firm DCM.

At the same time, former Alibaba Group executive Tang Zhengrong joined Tuniu.com as chief technology officer.

Previously, Tuniu.com obtained series A funding in 2008 from Gobi Partners. DCM and Sequoia Capital participated its series B and C round.

"We will use the proceeds for upgrading our product offerings, improving automatic procedures and team building," says Tuniu.com’s CFO, Yang Jiahong.

Established in 2006, Tuniu.com provides booking services for the mass tourism sector in China. The site also runs destination content and catalogs.
