CVC Capital Invests $200M In Chinese Education Firm EIC Group

London-based private equity firm CVC Capital Partners has agreed to invest over US$200 million into Beijing-based Chinese education firm EIC Group Ltd., according to media reports.

CVC Capital plans to acquire EIC shares from its founder Joe Li and existing investor Actis Capital.

The valuation of the deal is not disclosed.

After the transaction is completed, CVC will reportedly have a greater stake of EIC than Actis.

EIC Group’s main business is to help Chinese students study overseas. The firm currently operates 16 schools across China.

CVC completed a US$2 billion first closing of its fourth Asia Pacific fund last month.
