New York-based employee-controlled investment manager Neuberger Berman has appointed Clifford Chiu, former partner member at U.S. private equity giant KKR & Co., as senior adviser for Neuberger Berman Asia, according a company announcement.
Mr.Chiu will assist in expanding the client base in the Asia Pacific region for Neuberger Berman.
When employed at KKR, Mr.Chiu and his team raised about US$15 billion from institutional investors in Greater China, Korea, Japan, Southeast Asia and Australia for KKR’s private equity funds.
Prior to KKR, Mr. Chiu served as a managing director responsible for the Asian institutional business at JP Morgan in Hong Kong and Tokyo from 2002 to 2007.
Earlier than that, Mr. Chiu worked for Citigroup, where he was head of Hong Kong investment banking, and before that as co-head of Japan investment banking in Tokyo.

Neuberger Berman has a long history of 75 years managing equities, fixed income, private equity and hedge fund portfolios for global institutions. It currently has offices in 17 countries with more than 2,000 employers, and manages US$257 billion in client assets as of June 30, 2014.
