Goldman Sachs Investment Partners Raises $1B Asian Fund

Goldman Sachs Investment Partners (GSIP) has raised US$1 billion for its first Asian hedge fund named Oryza Capital LP, according to media reports.

Oryza Capital is an Asian equity long-short fund, focused on making bottom-up investments in medium and large market capitalization companies across the region.

The fund, launched in September 2013 with an initial capital of US$80 million, is led by partners Hideki Kinuhata in Tokyo and Ryan Thall in Hong Kong.

GSIP is a US$4.5 billion global multi-strategy hedge fund within Goldman Sachs ‘ asset management division. It was launched in January 2008.
