Beijing-based cloud-based security firm Anquanbao, backed by Northern Light Ventures and Innovation Works, has been acquired by Chinese search engine Baidu Inc. for an undisclosed amount, according to Chinese media reports.
After the completion of the transaction, Anquanbao will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Baidu. Baidu will also push the cooperation and synergy between Anquanbao and its cloud services platform.
Ma Jie, founder and CEO of Anquanbao, may also join Baidu to head its cloud security unit.
Founded in 2011, Anquanbao received an undisclosed amount of series B funding led by Northern Light Ventures and Innovation Works in 2012.
The company provides cloud-based software protecting websites from malware and attacks.
