China’s First 5G High Speed Rail Line To Be Rolled Out

China’s first 5G high-speed rail line to cover the Spring Festival travel season, according to CCTV. The Guangzhou–Shenzhen–Hong Kong Express Rail Link, which has 5G coverage, will be launched in 2020. It is also the first 5G line to cover the Spring Festival travel season.

The use of 5G high bandwidth and low delay characteristics can give useres experience of VR, AR, cloud games and others. The current Guangzhou–Shenzhen–Hong Kong Express Rail Link 5G coverage has three use scenarios, along the railway lines, in the tunnels and on the stations.

More than 300 5G base stations are planned to be built along the Guangzhou–Shenzhen–Hong Kong Express Rail Link, and 12 equipment cells will be merged to reduce the frequency of cell switching during high speed train movements and provide more stable coverage.

The Shenzhen North Railway Station is expected to deliver 6.528 million passenger trips this year, up 5.7 percent from the same period last year, with a daily peak expected to top 250,000.

The Guangzhou–Shenzhen–Hong Kong Express Rail Link had 9.9 million passengers in the first half of 2019. Total revenue for the first half of the year ended June 30 was HK$28.272 billion, up 7.2% from a year earlier.
