Emerging Market Private Equity Fundraising Declines 39%

Investors raised US$21.3 billion through 99 private equity and venture capital funds in the first three quarters of 2013 across emerging markets, according to the Emerging Markets Private Equity Association (EMPEA).

Emerging market private equity funds deployed US$16 billion in capital during the same period.

In total funds raised and capital invested, this year’s numbers are down 39% and 13% respectively compared to the first three quarters of 2012.

For the whole year of 2012, emerging market private equity and venture capital fundraising was US$40 billion and capital invested was US$24 billion.
